Reindeer sledge drive into the Kingdom of Snow
Would you like to meet those mystical animals of arctic forests – reindeer, the animals most valuated by Sami people?
For this experience you are picked up from Saariselkä area and transferred to our reindeer farm. Upon arrival, warm winter clothing such as thermal overalls, socks, shoes and gloves are provided for the sledge ride. Now let’s meet some reindeer!
You’ll be introduced to the reindeer and given safety instructions for the journey. You’ll be seated on sledges, two persons on each, sitting on hide and covered with blanket – and then 45 minutes reindeer sledge ride into the snowy forest will begin! As you are not driving yourselves you can just relax and enjoy the harmony of silence of the nature around you, calming sound of reindeer hooves on snow, feeling the same with the journeyman of the past. Reindeer love to eat lichen so they will love also you when you reward them with some lichen after the journey, providing also good
opportunity to take some photos of them.
Finally, it’s good to warm up a bit inside our cozy old wooden house or inside a wooden kota around open fire. Inside, you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with cookies while immersing yourself in the local lifestyle. As a small memento you will receive an international reindeer driving licence before it is time to say goodbye and take you back to Saariselkä.
Duration of the whole program is 2h-2.30min depending on the size of the group.
This program is available for both groups and individuals and can be reserved online. Once you advice us of your place of accommodation, we will contact you about the pick up time and place.
In case you prefer to arrive by your own car, please note that the times given online are the times when you should leave Saariselkä – please do not arrive before it.

Would you like to meet our reindeer, those silent, mystical animals living in arctic areas?
At our reindeer farm on arrival we will welcome you and introduce you to our reindeer which are waiting for you to take you into the snowy forest for a 400 meters sledge ride. But first we will give you short safety instructions and tell you how to act with reindeer before you head into the forest. The nature around you, the gentle silence of reindeer, the calming voice of their hooves will give you a glimpse to the world of travelers in the past. Reindeer love to eat lichen so what would be a better way to make a nice photo with them than to reward them with some lichen.
Afterwards in the cozy old log house or inside wooden kota around open fire you can enjoy some coffee and tea with cookies while immersing yourself in the local life. As a small memento of your visit you will receive an international reindeer driving licence before it’s already time to say goodbye and wish you a good journey.

Reindeer's Journey
Would you like to join reindeer sledge ride, the most reliable way of getting around in the arctic nature?
We will welcome you to our farm and provide you some warm winter clothing such as thermal overalls, socks, shoes and gloves for the sledge ride. Then it is time to meet the real stars of our farm, reindeer.
You will be introduced to them and given safety instructions for the journey. Then the reindeer will take you for a 25 minute sledge ride into the snowy forest seated 2 persons on one sledge. Here, for a moment you get to feel as the local travelers in the past while seated cozily on sledge between reindeer hide and blanket, listening to the calming sound of reindeer hooves, surrounded by quiet arctic nature.
Reindeer love to eat lichen so what better way to thank them? This way you can also take some nice photos of you and your new friend together!

Aurora reindeer Safari
We will welcome you to our reindeer farm and provide you warm winter clothing such as thermal overalls, shoes and gloves to keep you warm during the sledge ride. It is our pleasure to introduce you to our reindeer which are waiting for you and wanting to take you for a 45 minutes sledge ride into the Polar night.
After learning safety instructions you will be seated comfortably in the sledge between hide
and blankets, two persons sharing one sledge. As you are not driving yourselves you can just relax and feel the nature around you, in the comforting silence of reindeer. When the night sky is clear you can enjoy the glow of the stars and the moon, even the Northern Lights might flare green across the sky. If clouds happen to cover the sky, you can wrap yourselves in the silence of the darkness, with full trust that the reindeer will know their way back.
After the ride, inside the wooden kota by open fire it’s delightful to enjoy some hot juice and warm up. You can explore the sky outdoors or sit in the warm hut and listen to fire crackling in the fireplace, immersing yourself in the life of reindeer herders for centuries. As a small memento you will receive an international reindeer driving licence before it is time to say good night and wish you a good journey.
