REINDEER RIDE TO THE LAND OF SNOW (duration approx. 3 h)

We pick you up from your place of accommodation at Saariselkä and dress in warm outdoor clothes and gear, after which we can start to get acquainted with the reindeer. You’ll sit in a traditional Lappish sleigh harnessed with the herder’s reindeer. Seated warmly on reindeer hides and covered with blankets, it’s nice to feel at one with the journeymen of old and take pleasure in the real peace and quiet of nature, broken only by the snap of hooves and murmur of the sleigh in the snow. During the trip, we stop to warm ourselves in the glow of an open fire and enjoy a salty snack. While having coffee, the herder tells of reindeer and the liveli-hood they support. As a souvenir, you’ll receive an International Reindeer Driving Licence, after which it’s time to say goodbye and return to Saariselkä.
